5 Tips on Choosing a Great Realtor

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 at 4:02pm. 605 Views, 4 Comments.

Buying a home may be the most important, and biggest financial leap you take in your life.  Not to mention, selling your home is kind of a big deal too.  Whether you are new to the real estate market, or a seasoned purchaser, many characters come into play in this home buying act. There is a buyer, and a seller, brokers, loan officers and your “go to” guy or gal – your Realtor.  This is the person who is, or should be with you from beginning to end.
I’m not sure if you noticed, but there are a lot of Realtors.  I mean, a lot.  You may have an immediate family member or close friend who dabbles in real estate.  More than likely, they will have your best interest at heart. But this isn’t the only thing that is important when locking down a Realtor.…

Santa Cruz Vacation Rental Ordinance- nightmare or panacea ?

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011 at 1:52am. 855 Views, 4 Comments.

Santa Cruz County has joined other municipalities curbing the right of homeowners to use their homes for economic benefit as they see fit. Unforturtunately we now have more government interference and regulation.

If people are being a nuisance call the cops. Now call your supervisor !

So Santa Cruz County limits the rights of property owners in the Live Oak and Rio Del Mar Beach and Seacliff Beach areas, as those areas have the best and most beaches, which attract vacationers here to enjoy our community and spend their dollars here. Locally Capitola has a very narrow vacation rental zone in the village proper for rentals of less than one month. I have had many clients not like Capitola because of that regulation, and purchased other places.

Monterey.... a dream to be a Monterey real estate owner

Monterey Real Estate

As a kid growing up on the Texas Gulf Coast, all I used to dream about was California. Specifically, I dreamed about surfing in California. I’d seen pictures featuring the elegant figure of a surfer embedded in a towering crystal-blue wave curling toward the shore. Had I grown up in the age of computer-generated photographs, I might have suspected these shots were someone else’s fantasy. Surfers who dragged their boards out into the Gulf off Galveston Island got excited about mud-colored four foot waves that showed up only with tropical storms or hurricanes. It was hard to imagine bright blue water when your own ocean resembled nothing more than a cup of frothy hot chocolate.

But I didn’t grow up in the age of computers, so I did…

If you happen to be a golf widow, this is a great way to get out and explore other regions of the Monterey Bay away from all the traffic of the ATT Pebble Beach Golf tournament. Rio Del Mar Beach is a favored area at the Santa cruz end of the bay. While the US is having terrible winter storms, this is how some people spend their February in California. Thinking of a Rio Del Mar Beach house to getaway too or a Carmel ocean view cottage? Check some out.
