Capitola Art and Wine a Pouring Success; Capitola Beach festivals have great weather
Posted by Gregg Camp on Saturday, September 19th, 2009 at 9:44am. CAPITOLA,Ca -- This year the Capitola village was host for the 27th annual Capitola Art and Wine Festival over the weekend. The
event, which is staffed by volunteers,is a fundraiser for New Brighton Middle School and Soquel
High School sports and music foundations and a number of other events. Volunteering is a way to give back to the community and have fun in the sun doing it. The event featured 150 artists and
artisans who displayed paintings, wood paintings, jewelry, photographs, pottery, blown glass and more. Now ,that was something of the art, which of course draws people, but many come also for the Santa Cruz Mountains wine that many local wineries were pouring. There were 17 wineries among the art booths pouring their own creations. Some wineries had some of their wares, while others had a bit broader pallette or Chardonnays and Zinfandels and Cabernet's. Cinnabar Winery, was among the wineries represented at the two-day festival and had a very popular booth. Both the ever popular Mercury Rising and the Chardonnay were very well received. "We don't go to very many other festivals but this one is the grand daddy and is always attended," said Rob, sales distributor for the Saratoga winery. These events are loss leaders for the winery, but are insitutional branding according to Rob. Gregg Camp other volunteers were operating their booth near the main entrance of
Esplanade Way nearParadsie Grill. It was a great showing and a very busy event for Cinnabar Winery, which has strong following. One a side note the Capitola Art and Wine glasses this year were very uninspiring, maybe next year someone can take creative direction? Thanks all for participating and attending. If you are planning on coming back to the Capitola Art and Wine Festival next year, here is a link to parking and the events schedule.
