The SFBeerFest is an event annually to celebrate things beer. Mmm good. Lots of regional pairings of beer with different foods. This event goes from SF down the the Santa Cruz area and in many parts of the bay area.

There are major local breweries as well as many smaller local ones participating in this event. Check out some of the places below for food and a great beer. These are always fun, and some of the brewers produce specialty beers for just this event, which is really great.

The Carmel Christmas Tree lighting ceremony for the holiday season will be held this Friday December 3rd at 4:30 PM.

  Bring warm clothes as it is getting chilly for this lighting. While this is not the tree you will see, it is the idea that counts:)

The tree lighting ceremony is held on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Junipero at Devendorf Park. Call city hall if you have questions at (831) 620-2020.

What is "non recourse" debt? Is my Carmel real estate in jeapordy?

Many are in some financial throes and have come across this term in California as they wrestle what to do. Santa Cruz home prices have come down and some cannot either refinance or in cases make their payments. This applies to Carmel real estate as well, but many Carmel real estate buyers do not finance, so the problem is not as common.

So one wants to know what is the difference between a recourse debt in California and a non recourse debt?

Under California law a debt is considered "non recourse" when a loan is made under one of the two following circumstances:

When the loan is made to purchase 1-4 units of residential property, one of which the owner intends to occupy as a primary residents, or
