Do Not Call Registry- Don't get bothersome phone calls at home: Stop Telemarketing ! Stop Junk Mail too

Do you get bothered in the middle of dinner by telemarketers? Well you may wonder why did they call you? We are often home in the evenings, but that is not the only time they call. It reminds me of an old gangster quote, when asked why he robbed banks said "because that is where all the money is." The reason you get calls is because that is where they can find you, at home. Most people are not home during the day, though we all get those hang up calls. Thankfully the robo calls are now largely illegal, those were very annoying.
To get on the Do Not Call list you can do it two ways. You can call 1-888-382-1222 and go through the prompts as it is all automated. You will have to call in on the number( that exact phone line) that you want to have blocked. If you have a cell phone, you will need to call in on that cell phone to get it recognized.
If you want to go online you can go to DoNotCall.gov and do it online. This process will take about 31 days to be fully implemented.
You can also register an e-mail according to the form. So apply that, and get off the e-mails. Most e-mails have an opt out, which they need to do per law, so that can handle most of the individual cases.
Stop Junk Mail
If you have another problem and that is stopping junk mail, the major source to contact is the company or organization known as the Direct Marketing Association. The DMA is the place to go to stop junk mai. You can contact them on line to stop them. You will also want to contact your bank and credit card companies as they are major offenders in my experience.
Probably when you signed up for something, and sometimes you don't have an obvious choice to opt out, there is a check box you forgot to uncheck. A great local resource is the StopJunkMail dot org site. It has a number of resources to contact.
You can use their Stop Junk Mail Kit by downloading this PDF, which is really handy.
