Carmel, CA is what
most people call the gorgeous small town Carmel-by-the-Sea, a top
destination for anyone who loves beautiful beaches. Many believe that
this town has the most beautiful beach in the entire world. Clint
Eastwood liked it so much that he became the town's mayor for a few
years. The town is also located very close to the extraordinary Pebble
Beach Golf Course. If one can afford the greens fees, it is well worth
the time and money to play a game at this premiere course. The town is
located in Monterey County, CA on the west coast of the United States
of America. It was founded in 1902 on the Monterey Peninsula.
One thing that is interesting about this gorgeous town is that it is
very friendly to dogs. Most of the hotels are fine with guests letting
their dogs sleep in the rooms with them. Dogs are allowed in all of the
fancy outdoor dining areas that are offered by the upscale restaurants
in the town. Most of these establishments will even offer water bowls
to the dogs. Some even have menus filled only with dog treats. Dogs can
even come into many of the town's stores with their owners. Maybe the
most unbelievable fact is that if they are under the vocal command of
their human masters, dogs are allowed on Carmel City Beach without
leashes. It is almost unbelievable that this town exists in the United
States, let alone California, but there are still some places where
freedom has not been completely crushed by people who know better than
the common man.
A nice visit to the worlds shortest parade in Aptos needs a little restraint.
Although, the town does have its own share of unusual laws. One
municipal code outlaws the wearing of shoes with heels that are over
than two inches tall or with a base that is under one inch in diameter.
However, this regulation can be overcome by obtaining a permit. This
regulation was put into law in the 1920s. Tree roots were pushing up
the pavement, and the city didn't want to be sued by women who tripped.
Clint Eastwood overturned another odd law. The selling and consumption
of ice cream on the street had been illegal within the city limits for
as long as anyone could remember. Eastwood used this issue to gain
office and promptly worked with the city council to overturn the
regulation.
Carmel, CA is a beautiful place with nice people and happy dogs. Everyone should visit it before they die.
